Loud noise from synthesizer in 3.x builds on Linux
I downloaded and launched the 3.6 Alpha this morning. When it opened I got a loud, scary-sounding, screeching noise from my speakers. Every time I launch it it does this - it's a very pinkish noise - biased to the high end. It begins as soon as the Start Center popup opens, lasts for a few seconds, then stops. But on many user interface actions I'll still get noise artefacts - pops, scratches, etc. Also, I have not been able to get it to playback any scores, even with ensuring soundfont and instruments are properly set in the synth and mixer dialogs. I've not had any audio issues in the 3.5 Appimage release. [I am on fedora Linux 32, Intel CPU and audio]
I am uncertain on if I should even report this - is there a proper way to see and report currently known issues with alpha/beta releases? Or maybe what I'm doing right now is the way?

You just did...
Try reverting to factory settings, IIRC that fixed a similar 'tinitus' beeping for me
FWIW, I hear this too with the AppImage and mentioned it on the develop chat on Telegram, but I have no idea how general the issue is.

Per Jojo's recommendation I reset to factory defaults and it did, indeed, fix the issue. Tho, of course, inquiring minds would want to know why this is required (in order to prevent anyone upgrading to the new release, once official, from experiencing this issue).
Perhaps you report during development will lead to a solution before final release.
Factory reset as the workaround.
Is this the same as #284568?
or even #284568: Distorted Sound with strange echo of input // Musescore 3 // Manjaro Linux ;-)
Let's close it as a duplicate.
