I can confirm for this particular score but not for my own scores. So it seems to be something about this particular tempo marking. Could be a question of which of the two quarter note glyphs was used, or whether there was a copy/paste involved, which removes formatting.

OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.0.451380634, revision: 10dee08

I can reproduce from scratch:

  1. In 3.5.2, create a blank score (treble staff, default time sig and key sig).
  2. Add a tempo mark to the first rest with Alt + Shift + T.
  3. Immediately use the text toolbar to increase the font-size of the Note only to 16, say.
  4. Save and reopen in 3.6RC without resetting.

Result: The tempo note has become much larger. Another issue: the tempo font reads "Edwin" in the Inspector.

Well, 16 pt is extremely large for the note, at least in whatever font is actually being used here. You can see that 16 pt is too big by creating a new score using the defaults. However, 16 pt was not so large in whatever font was actually being used in 3.5.2.

I believe Emmentaler Text is most likely the font actually being used here, and it seems perhaps the glyph itself was changed, maybe in response to complaints it was too small before. Or perhaps we are actually swapping in the Leland Text glyph. In any case, I have a feeling this will turn out to have been by design to fix default note sizes, but it would be good to have confirmation.

FWIW, though, I am not seeing the issue with the text showing as Edwin in the Inspector. If I choose to keep old style on import, it still says FreeSerif in your example.
