There has been a significant increase in the width of the Inspector. The minimum width to support all elements has gone from about 7 cm, in MS 3.5.2, to 9 cm (at 100 dpi). IME, no user benefit is gained by increasing the width of the Inspector or dialog size (beyond a practical minimum), and it may actually impede adjustment in certain cases.
See, also #291892: Style dialog: redesign layout of properties to reduce width; and #288806: Inspector: width increases when certain elements are selected..

Can you pinpoint with Sub-Inspector is the culprit there?
It should depend on what element you select how narrow you can make the inspector without a scrollbar showing
To me it looks even narrower, like when selecting a note (and made as narrow as possible without a horizontal scrollbar showing)
See attached score. Click on a fingering number (and adjust the width of the Inspector until the horizontal scroll bars just disappear). The Inspector width has increased by more than 2 cms (at 100 dpi).
Confirmed, and I see why too: "Follow staff size" is not on a line of its own anymore
Should be an easy fix
Is it really true that this affects the minimum for all elements? I normally use Dynamics as my reference point it seems to require the most width. And it doesn't seem to have changed for me. Other text elements may well now require more than previously, but not more than Dynamics long has.
Yes, the dynamics inspector is much worse, probably the worst. But the text inspector has changed for the worse, without real need as far as I can tell.
I do find it very difficult to get it back to senses though. :-(
And seeing the enormous withd of the dynamics inspector, it might indeed not be worth the effort?
Certainly it isn't a Major issue

Actually, the dynamics Inspector has increased by 1 cm (at 100 dpi), and it seems that other text Inspectors have been increased in width to match it.
Many of the widgets are wider than they need to be, and if they could be made narrower, surely the Inspector could also be reduced in width?
As it'll get redone completely for MuseScore 4, this is most probably not worth the effort at all
FWIW, if we're looking for easy wins, the section break inspector doesn't allow the pause field to overlap the verbose descriptions below.

In Linux Ubuntu/Mint, the minimum width of the Inspector is even greater than on Windows by an appreciable margin. There appears to be no way to make good this deficit.
