Right now, trying to place two notes on the same beat, and placing them with lengths longer than 1 measure, will delete the first note and leave only the second. There should be the ability to place the first note, then the second without having to find workarounds.

Can you explain better what you are doing? When you put a whole note in a 3/4 measure you end up with a dotted 1/2 note tied to a 1/4 note. If this (or something similar) isn't happening then an example is needed.
