Musescore no longer works after update to V 3.5.2 windows 10 64 bits

I was requested to install an update to MuseSCore.
I did it, following the wizard instructions.
After opening the updated version, it hangs.
The main interface shows up but the splash is frozen saying "Initializing start center".
After uninstalling and reinstalling from scratch, it hangs with the same behavior.
I cannot give more details than that, because the application simply does not work and there is nothing I can post to describe the problem better.
It seems that the update has corrupted something in the Windows registry, so than not even reinstalling from scratch + rebooting makes the application work
I am completely struck.
