Recommendations from Behind Bars by Elaine Gould:
- p.309 - Piano fingerings should use a bold typeface to avoid confusion with tuplet numbers.
- p.373 - Guitar string numbers use a bold typeface in diagram (not mentioned in text).
- p.375 - Guitar fingering numbers for left-hand (fretting) use a bold typeface in Bach extract (not mentioned in text).
- p.374 - Guitar fingering letters p, i, m, a for right-hand (plucking) should use an italic typeface.

Comments
After a Telegram discussion in the MuseScore Design group with @oktophonie and @MarcSabatella, it was decided to follow Gould's advice for fingering letters (i.e. make them italic) but not numbers. Numbers will remain non-bold for the following reasons:
Italic fingering letters was implemented here.
