Playback problem - playback slows and starts to buzz around bar 5

• Dec 30, 2020 - 12:13

Two days ago i started to get a buzz and slowdown on playback of a tune (Alma Llanero, imported from the MuseScore library) that previously played perfectly. I checked other scores and found the same problem on another couple of scores.
One tune (just a treble clef line) played OK though.

I upgraded MuseScore 3 to the "professional" level last week. The problem did not occur until several days after the upgrade.

I have not introduced any new software onto the computer since the upgrade (although i am thinking of using Jamulus or other "near-real-time" Jamming software soon)

What i have tried so far ....
1. I have turned the computer on and off repeatedly
2. I have re-imported the score
3. I have checked how much space there is on my computer in case it is a buffering problem. There are 17.7 GBytes free

Please provide some support as I am flummoxed, GS

_I upgraded MuseScore 3 to the "professional" level last week. _ Pardon? There is no such thing. There is a Pro subscription on musescore.com, but that hasn't got anything to do with how the MuseScore desktop program works

That score got last saved witn MuseScore 3.4.2, so update to 3.5.2 (and/or try 3.6 RC)

On some system you get strange sounds with certain chords. It's nothing that MuseScore can account for on every system. Things you can do to overcome this without changing your written song includes, using a different soundfont on the instruments that cause problems and unchecking Play for the note in the inspector.

Thanks Mike.
My problem only started a couple of days ago though. The scores that used to be OK are no longer OK.
I can edit out (delete) most of the notes in the chords and they then play OK so its something to do with how many notes are being played simultaneously.

Thank you everyone. It has taken me a while to get this sorted, but It now seems that the problem was actually that a high proportion of my CPU resources was being taken up with either a piece of malware masquerading as banking software, or a genuine piece of banking security software that had run amok. What was left of the CPU resources couldn't cope with the Scores i was attempting to play back.

Of course, i may not have fully sorted the problem, and I may now have no internet banking as a result of uninstalling stuff. But who needs a bank if you have music ?
