This should work with any multipart score.
- Select File > Parts, then "All Parts".
- Select the first part say, then add another instrument from "Instruments in score".
- Delete the added instrument, and OK.
Expected result: The relevant part should be unchanged.
Actual result: The staff (only) for the deleted instrument is still added to the part.

Can't reproduce in a post 3.6RC development build, can you?

Try the steps again with the attached score.
I still can't reproduce, not in 3.5.2 nor in a post 3.6 RC developement build
I can reproduce. The key I think is that you don't close the dialog after first generating parts, you go right from pressing All Parts to adding then deleting the instrument. I added the bassoon to the piccolo part. When I press OK and visit the piccolo part, the bassoon staff still shows, but empty. This tested with current 3.x build.
