connecting midi keyboard
I am trying to connect my roland synth thru a focusrite interphase. Nothing appears under "midi input". Any suggestions?

Did you connect it and turn it on before you started MuseScore?

no. midi input box is blank.

You need to connect and turn it on before you start MuseScore.

I did that but still doesn't work. 'API' box says MME, 'Device' box says Focusrite USB Audio (my interphase), but both MIDI input and output boxes are blank.

Be sure you have a 64-bit driver for your device.

Yes it is a 64 bit driver.
Good advice is to first see if your operating system can both see the device AND successfully talk to its attached devices. Most of the time, there is some kind of "MIDI control panel" or "utility" that can be used for this purpose apart from any application.
Also bear in mind that, if you're talking to MIDI through a USB-connected interface, versus using a keyboard that is itself able to connect to USB and then "talk MIDI through it," you might not be able to detect the presence of any devices that are attached to it unless, using the utilities or control-panel aforementioned, you manually describe how you have them set up. (So that inquiring applications then DO know.) The raw MIDI spec, as sometimes still-implemented using speaker cables, is very rudimentary.
