In certain cases the status bar seems to be displaying the wrong mode:

  1. Double click on a line.
Actual/Expected result: The status bar reads "Edit mode".
  2. Deselect the line.
  3. Click once on the line.
Actual/Expected result: The status bar reads "Normal mode".
  4. Now click on the end handle.
Expected result: The status bar should read "Edit mode" (as in step 1, above)
Actual result: The status bar still reads "Normal mode".

As far as I know this is correct. Just because a line or one of its handles is selected, that doesn't mean it is in edit mode. What makes you think it is in fact in edit mode?

The distinction between normal mode and edit mode has been blurred for a while now, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Meaning that there are certain operations that can be performed in normal mode now that used to only be able to be performed in edit mode. This is very much by design.
