Comments
Workaround is to toggle multimeasure rests.
What is randomly about it?
Behavior seems to be consistent if the steps below are accurately executed.
1) Select just a single note (NOT with the blue highlight).
2) Copy or cut.
3) Select a multi measure break sign (just the break sign, NOT the whole measure).
4) Paste.
5) Crash.
(Musescore 3.6.2)
Workaround 1: temporarily disable multimeasure rests (mentioned before)
Workaround 2: use a range selection (copying a notehead onto a rest doesn't make much sense anyway, but does apparently work on a 'normal' rest or note, but there retains that rest/notes duration and really copies only the pitch, which in turn won't work for a multimeasure rest)
I can't reproduce it with the development build of https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/9000 (based on the 3.x branch) nor with the master branch (which will become MuseScopre 4), so have to assume it got fixed.
For 3.x maybe along with the fix for #328337: Crash on deleting time signatures in front of multimeasure rests
Edit: no it isn't that, must have been an earlier fix.
