How do I make a certain effect?

I'm trying to create an effect with the Kalimba, but I don't know how an example is how the Kalimba is used in Haggstrom (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZNy6eHw3FA) but I am unable to get longer notes, they just sound like staccato.

That doesn't sound like a typical kalimba to me, most don't sustain like that. The one in the default MsueScore soundfont was presumably sampled from more typical one that has less sustain. You'd have to try other soundfonts (see Handbook section on that topic for more info) to find one that has a longer sustain.

I think it is a synthesized kalimba sound with a lot of reverberation effect.
You can get it:
1) With the GeneralUser GS v1.471.sf2 soundfont file (a very nice kalimba sound).
2) Change the MuseScore internal reverberation device in the synthesizer (see the attached file, upper device, as an starting point).
