No sound with Muse 4

• Dec 20, 2022 - 20:10

I am giving up and going back to Muse 3 for now. With all the fancy new features, it seems the most important one was glossed over. I can't get any sound at all. The cursor on the staff doesn't move. It's completely silent. I tried downloading the general use sounds folder and put the files in the Muse 4 sound folder. Nothing. I have a project I need to get done and I don't have time to fool around with what should work without me doing anything.

And now I'm really annoyed...I just discovered I can't open my file in Muse 3 since I edited it (or tried to) in Muse 4. There doesn't seem to be a way to save the file in Muse 3 format so I could work with it.

Export to MusicXML to transfer a file from 4 back to 3.

It sound as if there's an incompatibility with your sound card/driver (or its settings) and that MuseScore fails to connect with it (hence the "no playback").

This exact issue, meaning, you're still using 4.0 instead of the current 4.0.2, and it opens but you get no sound the cursor doens't move when you hit the play button or press Space, and you also donwloaded sounds into your custom foler like the OP did? First step would be to attach the score you are having trouble with so we can see if that's the problem, and tell us which sounds you downloaded and which ones you are using here.

Also try the release candidate of 4.1 just psoted in the Announcements forum to see if that works better for you.

I had no sound output with either Musescore 3 or 4 fixes with my MOTU audioexpress. I have had trouble with permissions with Windows and this soundcard before. I tried the Scarlett USB this morning and I have sound output with no fiddling around - it just works! I also had an issue with getting my midi keyboard (Oxygen) working but found that if I selected the output first then it would let me select it for the input. I am liking this software a lot now. I'm on Windows 10.
