Bugs spotted in Musescore 4.0.2

• Jul 3, 2023 - 15:40

OS: Windows 10 Version 2009,
Arch.: x86_64,
MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.2-230651553,
revision: dbe7c6d

1) Once a text frame contains Enter Key ↵ , the text frame is uneditable in the sense that, when you double-click on that text frame wanting to edit the text, Musescore will just hang and become unresponsive.

2) You can edit the text font and/or text size of the "copyright" text but it won't be saved, even if you click the "Save" button. Next time you open the file again, it displays back in the default text font and text size.

Developers, kindly fix these issues as soon as possible as it causes great inconvenience. Thank you.

You are expecting a brand new program to run perfectly on an out dated system.

I am able to edit text frames. But you are correct about copyright text not being saved.

How do you edit copyright text?
The only place is in File > Project properties > copyright and that doesn't allow for changing font or size, for that you'd need to go to Format > Style > Text styles > footer text

"Once a text frame contains Enter Key ↵ , the text frame is uneditable"

Which is why I always edit multi-line copyright text in a plain text editor (e.g. Notepad). It's simple enough to copy existing copyright text from Project > Project properties... > Copyright , paste the text into Notepad, make changes, and copy-paste the result back into the Copyright field.

And if you are creating the Copyright text from scratch, start out using a plain text editor and then copy-paste the finished text into the Copyright field.

My guess is you are attempting to edit the copyright text by double-clicking it on the score itself. It's a bug that this even appears to be possible, and that bug is already fixed for 4.1 - double-clicking the footer won't give the erroneous sense that it is going to work. As suggested above, the correct way to edit copyright text is in File / Project properties. Or more generally for additional footer info, Format / Style / Header, Footer. And then to set the text style, Format / Style / Text Styles / Footer.

The hang on edit might be a problem with your specific score or might be due to running a very old OS with out of date libraries, hard to say. Please attach your score and give precise steps to reproduce that problem so we can investigate.
