Adding a rest or smaller note over a whole note in the same staff (piano sheet music)

My teacher is helping me learn to make music on this by recreating some of their pieces; but they have a quarter rest, quarter note and a dotted quarter note over a whole note in the treble staff and I cannot figure out how to do it. Can you please assist me?
