Transposition
I was writing a piece of music and added a bell part. I would like to change the bell part to 8va. When I go into Tools, then Transpose it will not move the part up an octave. I have tried by interval and diatonically. Suggestions?

If I understand your problem correctly, then you just have to select the notes and move them by one octave with Ctrl+arrow up or down.
But if you want them to stay on the same line afterwards, use the clef with 8va bassa or 8va alta.

I select a measure, go to Tools, select Transposition, select By Interval, then scroll to Perfect Octave, then click on OK. Nothing happens.

I think I figured out why I can not transpose the bell part. I change this staff from something else to bells. Perhaps I changed it from is a non-pitched percussion instrument (i don't remember if it was).

Please post a few pages of this score so that we can see what is going on. You should be able to range select the part and hit CTRL+up arrow. Unless that puts notes out of range.
