Roman numeral chord markings

How can I write a chord name to show the position on the neck, such as D fifth position, with a raised Roman numeral superscript V next to the D?

Take a look at https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/chord-symbols. In particular, the sections on "Roman Numeral Analysis" and on "Nashville Number".

However, I don't think that either one is what you want. (I hope I'm mistaken!) I suspect you'll have to use "system text" or "staff text", which do not affect playback. Perhaps put an ordinary chord symbol (Ctrl+K) and make it invisible, then add your specialized chord symbol as "system" or "staff text", as appropriate.

Obviously, if you don't want it to play, or don't care whether it does, just use the "system" or "staff text".
