Upgrading to 4.4 is UNRELIABLE

• Sep 2, 2024 - 00:23

I just updated to 4.4 and it totally trashed my recent files list, reverting to something from months ago. Also, it has played havoc with my plug-ins, removing the names on some, and refusing to install others. Worse than that, the file I was working on didn't save properly and is now lost.

I'll never upgrade Musescore again unless I absolutely have to. This is a total mess. Fortunately, I have a hard copy, but I'll now have to re-input the entire score.

Musescore saves backup files in a hidden .mscbackup folder, which is located in the same place as your project file.
There should be a file named .name_of_your_file.mscz~
where "name_of_your_file" is the name of your project file.
Copy it to another location, remove the ~ from the file name and try to open it.

I'm having problems too. I can create a new part without the software shutting down. I probably did have the earlier version open when I upgraded, but MuseScore asks you to upgrade as soon as you open the software so it's natural to do it that way.

Have similar problem with MS 4.4.0. Using a laptop with Windows 10.
I use MS since years without problems, but this version or upgrade seems to have a really serious problem: I can no longer open any of my previously saved MS files; always get message 'cannot find file' and below that 'your file does not exist or is currently unavaible'

Good morning,
help!
update for 1 month 4.4 and windows 11
only some partitions appearing in recent files are accessible, but even if I save them again and want to open them from windows explorer:
"unable to open file...
This file does not exist or is not accessible at the moment"
Dozens of hours of work have become inaccessible...
I found the msbackup folders and found the "backed up" files but even removing the unnecessary characters, it still doesn't work.
Thanks for your help!
