  1. Musescore 4 is installed in parallel with Musescore 3. You can use both versions at the same time, but note that musescore 3 cannot open files from Musescore 4 (Musecore 3.7 evolution can do this)
  2. Musehub allows you to download and install sounds for instruments that sound better than in MS3.
If you do not need this, do not download and do not install Musehub. Musescore 4 uses sounds from Musescore 3 by default (or something very similar)

I assume these are "those 3 different (apparently) links"?

* "Download for Windows (64-bit)" downloads MuseScore Studio with MuseHub
* "MuseScore Studio (64-bit) without MuseHub" downloads MuseScore Studio only!
* "MuseScore Studio Portable.EXE" downloads a special version of MuseScore Studio that can run without being "installed": for example, from a thumb drive.

Hutch...also THX for UR reply, but the "I assume" does not give me any confidence to take action.

Why can't someone say EXACTLY what each link does? or Re-write the web page
with explanations (maybe "hovers") which would take a few minutes to do.

As I said (way above), a bad attempt (on my part) screwed up my PC for 1-2 hrs trying to remove MuseHub. Somehow it cause my "pop-up" blocker to crash, and then browser with it.

I have slightly modified the screenshot (and only the screenshot) by visually adding links to it.

Next to number 1 you can see that the link is to Muse_Hub.exe (this is the MuseHub installer file, which will also install Musescore on your system)

Next to number 2 (where it says this is an install without Muse Hub) you can see that the link is to musescore.MSI. This is a Microsoft Software Installer file, which will only install Musescore Studio on your system and will NOT install Muse Hub.

Next to number 3 you can see that the link is to musescore.paf.exe. PAF stands for Portable Application Format. This is a Musescore Studio file, which does not require installation. It also does not have Muse Hub.

Option #1 is the one to choose unless you have some unusual special reason to choose one of the other options. That option downloads and installs "Muse Hub", which is the main installer app for MuseScolre itself as well as the Muse Sounds libraries and other resources.

The second option bypasses Muse Hub and allows you to install MuseScore without going through Muse Hub (and therefore without the option of using Muse Sounds). Unless you have sone unusual special reason to want to do this, don't.

The third option downloads a special "portable" version of MuseScore - one that can be run without a full installation. It's useful if you wish to run MuseScore on a computer where you don't have system admin privileges, like at a library or school computer lab.
