Recurring folder
Hi all,
I'm still using Version 2.3.0 and I know everyone thinks I'm crazy not to move up but I only write chord charts, so this version is perfect for that.
I played in a band called the Offbeats from 2022 to 2024. I used this great program for charting their songs. I created a folder on my D drive called Offbeats, where I stored all my charts. Windows 10 Home is my OS. After I quit the band, I archived the charts to my F drive, and then deleted the Offbeats folder from the D drive. For about 6 months, that folder has recreated itself on my D drive (its original location). I researched the problem and tried everything to get rid of it but it keeps coming back.
After numerous attempts to find the cause, I finally noticed today that every time I open Musescore, the Offbeats folder is recreated. One of the known causes for this problem is, "Some other program is recreating the folder."
Has anyone run into this? How can I stop Musescore from recreating the Offbeats folder? Thanks.

Google this problem and you will find several reasons and fixes. One seems to be if you shared the folder with your bandmates in a file sharing service. Another could be the recycle bin on your computer. When was the last time you emptied it? Or reset it.
You get to use the version of MuseScore that you need to use.
Good luck.

Hi Bobjp,
Thanks for the quick reply. I reset my Recycle bin from the command prompt about one week ago. I also shut down and emptied all file sharing folders about a month ago.
I wonder if this is a file sharing issue because I can make this happen at will on my own computer. I will try disconnecting from the internet to make sure it's not a file sharing issue. The only other reason I found was that a virus could be causing the issue. I keep my antivirus definitions up to date.

If you have Windows Onedrive active, I believe it can recreate folders and files.

I uninstalled OneDrive months ago because I never use it. Thanks for the idea, underquark 👍.

Perhaps you have entered your "Offbeats" folder here? If so, Musescore may create it again and again, but without any content. Just an idea ...

Bingo!!! HildeK you are right. That folder is in my Preferences as the default storage place. I deleted it and Musescore was smart enough to restore it.
Thanks!!!
