How to create a part with independent measures
Hi all, new to musescore here and am trying to create independent parts where the measures are also independent, Now the measures will still be the same count, but I want 1 part to have repeats, different endings, codas, etc, etc and the other part will only have single measures. Think around a rock song. The guitar and bass parts will only have single measures as the music can change from verse to verse and maybe even from chorus to chorus, but the vocal part is always the same melody so you want to have only the 12 measures for the melody, but with repeats for multiple verses and then a chorus with alternate endings. How do I do that since as soon as I put a repeat on a measure in part 3, it shows through to the other parts.

Simple: you don't.
Parts are always dependent to the main score, that's their whole point even.

Which means, the way to do it is to create two separate scores.
One reason it is not possible is that, as a general rule, it is not a good idea. There are exceptions of course.
The reason it is a bad idea is about the rehearsal situation. If different people have parts that do not match in measures/voltas/rehearsal markings etc., chaos easily arises:
- OK, lets play from two measures before the voltas and go straight into volta 2.
- I don't have any voltas! Where do I start?
One reasonable exception is if there is an instrumentalist/vocalist that does not come in until far into the score. Then there is just a lot of empty measures with voltas etc. which might be more difficult to follow, than just the big picture of something like "two full 32-bar choruses, and an interlude four measures" before the vocalist comes in. If you want this, do a separate score, but make sure that at least rehearsal marks are consistent.

Totally understand from an orchestral point of view, but in a rock band... 90% of the folks won't even know what a volta is!!!! LOL It's all about "take it from where the drum fill is crash bam bam" or take it from the lyric "aswesomeness" in verse 2.

However, there are no standards for “crash bam bam” and an official music notation program must of course adhere to standards. That is why there is no standardized solution for such requests that violate the rules of music notation.

And most may not read music. Do you write out drum and bass parts? If not, consider writing just a lead sheet. Melody and chords and lyrics. Stack lyrics as needed. Maybe put in rehearsal numbers.
Or create a score with everything written just the way you want it. Export each part to their own score and put in repeats or whatever that you want. Don't forget rehearsal numbers at likely places. Then just say "start at J". Or the lyric Cat right after T.
