Musescore DAW
Does Musescore have any plans of including a DAW as part of a future addition to the program? I read recently that the same group that owns Musescore has bought Audacity? Is that true? Does that mean that Audacity may be merged into Musescore?

Audacity is a good Wave Editor, but it lacks a basic feature of DAWs, it does not support MIDI. I dont think that there are plans of mixing Audacity and Musescore.

Read this thread: https://musescore.org/en/4.5-and-beyond
In particular, regarding your question (it's towards the end), I'll quote it so it's clearer, so for Version 5 and beyond:
Shared framework
"An under the hood piece we've started working on is an integrated framework with Audacity, which allows us to share parts of our codebase – a system we are planning to expand until both applications share the same audio engine. When this is in place, we can all look forward to more rapid feature integration as improvements to playback in Audacity get assimilated into MuseScore Studio, and vice versa. This will also make many of Audacity's native effects available for MuseScore Studio users too."

Plays in mine and I don't even have the most recent update. I think MIDI play has been available for 2-3 years; I'm pretty sure I first used it early in 2023.

Probably a Linux Mint Problem, the repository is not up to date for most tools. But i dont need MIDI anyway,
