Align lyrics numbers

• Aug 30, 2025 - 21:41

Hi !

I looked after on the forum and found topics like this one : https://musescore.org/en/node/348083 and this one : https://musescore.org/en/node/355580

But not about my specific problem – but truly sorry if I missed it. Please feel free to delete if irrelevant.

Also, forgive my english as it isn't my mothertongue.

Before the last update, I'm pretty sure that when I typed the lyrics of the hymns I'm transcripting, when the lyrics went from the end of the musical staff (« portée musicale » in French, looked to translate but not sure of how it is called in English) to the beginning of the other, the number of the verses where automatically aligned.
But it isn't anymore... I checked but didn't find how to align those. It's not much, but as an organist I prefer to simplify my reading as I have to check and be aware of a lot of stuff at the same time...

Maybe it has to do with the fact that the verse numbers would "cross" the words cut in two ? So I tried to cut the measure where it has the beginning of a word – but then I don't find it practical to read... (see 2nd file, "scindé").

Also, I'm sure it was answered elsewhere, but sometimes when I type, the text jumps around (up or down) the text lign, can anyone help me with it ? (As seen in the second file)

Thanks for reading !

I believe 'melisma' or 'lyrics underscore' is the word you're looking for.

Are you talking about the alignment here?

The 'né'?
These is set to align left, deviating from the default, 'align center'.

Same here (though no melisma involved)
