I'd downloaded MuseScore 2.0 Beta (1efc609) and the first thing I saw is a dislocated time signature. This is a breaking bug, because it prints this way.
On the second screenshot there is an imported score from Musescore 1.3. You can see weird rectangles at the end of staffs. It disappears after resetting a "bar ending", though.

Which operating system are you using?

Do you happen to have installed the old MuseScore font (mscore font) in the system folder?
I think that this problem and also #40141: No 4/4 (C) symbol are due to the fact that the old font installed on the system folder is masking the updated font used by 2.0beta.
To solve this, you can uninstall the mscore font.

Windows 7 Pro x64. Excuse me, but I am not going to MS 2.0 untill it's stable. (which includes messing with nightly builds, uninstalling fonts or whatever)
Besides, it breaks compatibility with MS 1.3 which would display time signatures BELOW a staff I guess, which is not what I want.

the nightlyies are actually more stable than 2.0 Beta 1...
And 1.3, 2.0 beta 1 and the nightlies do peacefully coexist.

And removing the fonts won't break anything, you should never have installed them in the first place. If in fact you have installed them, please at least check for that, as it would be an explanation for the issue you're seeing.

Time signatures should not display below staff, but centered to the middle line of it.

And they do for me in every version I've tried, 1.x, 2.0 Beta 1 and any nightly before and after...

Um, What I did:
1. Download Beta from Muse Score website
2. Install with default options
3. Run program.
4. Make a screenshot.
That's it.

Easy enough to check: go to any program that lets you select fonts, see if you have a font available called MScore or MScore1. If so, then you must have installed it long ago for some reason and forgotten about it. Delete that font and all should be well.
