Please don't assign to yourself unless you plan to provide the fix too.
This appears to be useful information for someone who has the time to study the Perl code for biabconverter. If someone wants to do that and post a nice concise description of this aspect of the file format, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, this is much less likely to get fixed.
