Copy and Paste Crescendos/Decrescendos

• Jul 22, 2015 - 18:50

Hello. So, I love how now I can copy and paste dynamics easily. But, when writing for a large ensemble, it's a pain to drag a crescendo or decrescendo from the lines palette, place it, change the length, and finally get it right. I think it's better to be able and copy/paste crescendos and decrescendos. I think this option is useful. COMMENT BELOW IF YOU AGREE!

There is a *much* easier way. Just select the whole region you wan the hairpin to apply to - across as many staves as you like - then double click the icon or press the shortcut "<" or ">". The hairpin is automatically applied to all select staves for the slected duration. You should never need to drag hairpins, or adjust their length manually except for very fine tuning that will most liekly be different for each staff anyhow.

Copy and paste might be nice too, but it's still a lot more work than just adding it all staves at once with the right length in the first place :-). Note hairpins do copy and paste if you paste the measures, then you can replace the notes.

BTW, the same comment about applying something to a whole selection at once by double clicking the palette icon applies to dynamic as well, also just about every other marking on the palette.
