Chord name position

• Oct 29, 2010 - 19:05

The group I play with write all their music with the chord names under the top stave of music but when I write with musescore the chord names are on top of the top stave. Is it posible for me put the chord names below the stave of music please.

I cannot find the post I referred to now!

What I had seen was that after you have entered the chords, select one with a right-click then select Text Properties. Change the Y position to a positive value, say 4. Check 'apply to all elements of the same type'. Click OK.

This is all very well, but in trying it there are bugs. The chord symbols lose their uppercase properties. If you select and deselect them they regain it, but move up into the staff.

I'll report these issues separately as bugs after I've checked they aren't fixed in the nightly build.

I found a posting that positioned the chord text by selecting "style" "edit text style" "chordname" and setting the Y .
I set Y to -4 and the chord names go below the stave and stay there fine. I am running version 0.9.6.3. of musescore.

Two comments though:
1. the change didn't happen till I closed the music file and then re-opened it.
2. chordname is not located in alphabetical order on the list of text styles so it can be confusing to find it. (non of the styles are in alphabetical order)

I think I may have inadvertantly posted this query twice because I got the reply that worked for me withought it appearing in this topic list..
