I go back and forth on this all the time. Both are in common use. FWIW, in my book, I settled on "barline" and tried (successfully, according to a search) to be consistent about it. We're msotly consistent in the UI itself, but I do see it says "Bar Line" in the status bar - actually, "Bar Line: normal barline" :-)

I've now made the handbook consistent too and replaced all bar lines with barlines.
Will look at the UI next.

Edit 2: I just found "End bar barline", seems it should either be "End measure barline" or just "End barline", opinions?

Smufl uses barline too. What about "Final barline"?
