Both in MS 2.0.2 and 2.1.0, setting a custom style folder in the Preference dialog doesn't have effect on the Style->Chord symbols->Appearance option.

Step to reproduce : set a new empty folder in the preference dialog, and the styles are still available.

The custom field only works if using a full file path. If the style folder preference was working, only the filename would be sufficient.

It looks like the file path to the chord style files folder is hardcoded.

Comments

That's not the purpose of the option. A full path is still required when specifying a chord description other than the default. The option just sets a default location for the dialog n cases where there is not already one selected. It's mostly intended for actual style files, not the chord description files.
