I don't recall if this started when I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to 10, or if this was a change from Musescore 1 to 2. I used to double-click on a text like the composers or the subtitle, and attempt to change the alignment by either pressing Ctrl+L or Ctrl+R. However, when I do it now, the text disappears.

For instance, I like to take the subtitle and drag it to the left hand corner, using it for the instrumentation. It still is center aligned, so I need it to be left aligned. I double-click the subtitle and then press Ctrl+A to select the whole text, then press Ctrl+L, which used to make the text align left, noticeable when on multiple lines. When I press Ctrl+R, it replaces the text with a "?".

I tried to search for instructions and Issues on those commands, but couldn't find anything. Please advise.

I'm not sure what you expected Ctrl+L to do or when you pressed it, but this is not a MsueScore text editing command and to my knowledge never has been (although I guess it's possible this was an undocumented feature of an older release). Alignment of text is set using the text style or text properties dialogs, both found in the right click menu.

If you have further problems, please ask for assistance on the Support forum.

Actually, Going into Text Style and in Properties, hitting the Left Align does exactly what Ctrl+L does. Thank you for showing me the manual way to perform the action, but it does the same thing.

The change in action from what used to happen appears to be that the left align (using the quick keys Ctrl+L or Ctrl+R used to only affect alignment in it's current position. Now, it seems to affect it's position relating to the whole page; as in if a text is in the center of the page, it moves to the left or right of the page. I'm trying to affect the text in relation to itself.

I've made about over a fifty scores with using the Ctrl+L/R feature. Now looking back at old projects, it seems that it may be a feature that has dropped off. To demonstrate, I've attached the same score, one as a .mscz and one as a PDF. The PDF, of course doesn't lose its formatting. The Mscz shows in the left hand corner the "Tuba Transcribed to Baritone" as Center aligned (at least it does on my desktop). The PDF shows that in a previous version or release of Musescore, I could align to the left within the text box.

I discovered what the issue is. I used to drag the sub-title to the left, then left-align, which used to work over the 50 works I've done. Now, if I do that, it must move the text about 4.5 inches to the left of the page. If I move the text back to the middle and perform Left-align, it moves the text over to the left and also aligns it to the left.

I suppose it moves the text not in relation to anything, but a set amount of inches. I can work with this, but it is a poor design. I wish I could help with that. Let me know if you have any questions. Otherwise, feel free to move it back to "by design"

You shouldn't be moving the text at all. Left aligning the text should position it relative to the frame *and* left align the text itself. So, in the score you posted, simply click the text, press Ctrl+R to reset it to default position, then right click it andset the alignment to left, and it will look just like the PDF. Well, except for the 10mm vertical offset you have added. Reset that to 0 and it looks exactly like the PDF. The way you did it before may have happened to work, but the way I just described is the correct / supported way. Plus it's much simpler and doesn't rely on manual positioning.

I am 99% sure this is indeed exactly as it is designed to work, but I'll leave the status as "needs info" for now until someone can confirm.
