The right-click menus and drop-downs just appear as white boxes of the appropriate size. I suspect that somehow the menu text or style has gone missing. How could I tell which it is? Where is the text in the code structure?

I think I am having the font issues reported previously by others. All text that is not system text has now disappeared. In the Promenade example file, the title is blank. If I select it and set it to 'styled' then change the font from 'Al Bayan' which appears as the default then the title is displayed.
I don't understand why Al Bayan is showing as the default when that is a Middle Eastern font and my preferences should be English (GB).
The same is true if I enter lyrics. The lyrics do not display until I style them. I think that fonts are not being applied in the first instance.
Of course I cannot style drop-down menus, so they remain blank.

Ignored fonts: Maybe another clue
I just tried opening 0.9.6.3 in the same user. Promenade displays correctly. Looking at the font styles set in the Style:Edit Text Style... menu shows that all fonts are set to Times New Roman.
Subsequently opening the development build, the text now displays in demo.mscx. Looking at Styles:Edit Text Styles... shows all fonts to be Al Bayan.
Hence 0.9.6.3 must have set something, maybe a cache, that the development build sees and uses, but the development build is not setting correctly itself.
I don't see anything obvious in ~user/Library/Caches
After a restart the fonts show correctly but are still showing Al Bayan in Styles:Edit Text Styles...
