When using mid-staff instrument change from drumset to pitched percussion, notes cannot be input to the stave for the pitched percussion. On top of this, Musescore will crash if attempting to add notes after adding notes to the drumset section.
To reproduce:
Add a drumset to the score
Change instrument mid-stave to pitched percussion (Happens with all pitched percussion)
Try to input notes
To reproduce crash:
Add any note to the drumset
Attempt to add a note to the pitched percussion

As far as I know switching between pitched and unpatched simply isn't supported and thus shouldn't even be allowed. So I think the bug is that we don't produce an error message on the attempt. That would of course prevent the crash as well.
I can't reproduce the crash, not in 3.6.2 on Windows 10. Can you still?

I also can't, it seems to be fixed so good job whoever fixed that! Also, thank you so much for still being active on this relatively old thread, the community truly is the best part of Musescore!
I found it via https://musescore.org/en/node/324059, which is a bit related, but different enough to possible be worth a separate issue
