Fix measures <-- has disappeared in 2.0.0

• Apr 22, 2015 - 18:41

The handbook needs to be updated because the screenshots for how to specify the numbers of measures in a system (equivalent to FIT MUSIC in Finale) are erroneous. The screenshots in style/system still show that there is a checkbox for FIX MEASURES but that is now gone.

By the way, what happened to the FIX MEASURES feature?

I was told that the workaround is Layout/Stretch -- but this doesn't work for multiple measures (for me; perhaps I'm doing something wrong??) I can only change one measure at a time by tiny increments.

Help!

Thanks.

Stretch definitely works for multipe measures. Just select them and press "{" as many times as necessary to get them to all fit on a line together. The change is in 10% incrementsAssuming it's possible to fit the measures at all, it should not normally take more than 2-3 presses of "{" to get the job done.

If you have a specific score and a specific group of measures you are having problems with, feel to post the score and list the precise steps to reproduce the problem you are seeing, and we would be able to help further.

Measures are *supposed* to have different widths - a measure with a whole note should not take nearly as much room as a measure full if sixteenth notes. So MuseScore does the correct standard spacing here.

If you prefer non-standard spacing where all measures have the same width despite having different content, you can try to adjust the widths using the increase/decrease stretch functions ("}" and "{", which may be applied multiple times).
