Rehearsal marks and measure numbers
I'm not sure how to solve this issue, but it's been nagging me for a while, and I haven't figured it out or found anything.
I like to set my scores and parts to number every measure, to make them more convenient for any future performers. However, these numbered measures do not avoid rehearsal marks, and so by default I wind up with a rehearsal mark covering a measure number. I can open the measure properties for each individual rehearsal-marked measure and set the measure number to "always hide". However, this only works to an extent: whenever these measures lie within multi-measure rests in parts, the measure numbers seem to always show, regardless of the measure number mode setting for those measures or any of the measures that lie within the multi-measure rest. (As a side note, it might be a good idea to automatically provide a range of measures whenever a measure number appears over a multi-measure rest.)
Is there a way around this? Is there something I'm missing that makes this easier and fixes the multi-measure rest thing? I'd appreciate any help here.

I...guess that works. I mean, I could just make the measure numbers appear at the bottom of the staff instead, too. I just don't get why this isn't a feature, when I've seen tons of parts work the way I described.

Yeah, crossing my fingers. To be clear, I want the normal measure number to hide itself wherever a rehearsal mark is present, rather than simply move out of the way. For now, for the multi-measure rests where I can't hide the normal measure number, I've elected to uncheck the "visible" property for those numbers in the score and each part. Doesn't look the best in MuseScore, but it'll work for printing.

You know, that makes a lot of sense. What would you think of a checkbox in Style > General > Header, Footer, Numbers for "Hide when rehearsal mark is present"?

And a bug report about the multi-measure rest issue, since Marc reminded me: #112731: "Measure number mode" setting not honored in multi-measure rests
I'm slightly puzzled by Jojo's response—it should be Style > Text… > Measure Number > Vertical offset. (You can also get there by right-clicking on one measure number and choosing Text Style…)This is simply the way MuseScore currently attaches text to the bottom of the staff. You'll see that the Dynamics text style, for instance, makes dynamics appear below the staff by giving them a vertical offset of 8sp.EDIT: Oops, I got this question and https://musescore.org/en/node/110911 mixed up. Please disregard.
I reported this issue quite some time ago. Marc told me that the measure number is above the staff by convention. I use MS for jazz lead sheets primarily so elected to place the measure numbers below the staff to avoid most collisions. Below are my text style settings for my work.
