One Score with 4 movements
hello,
just a simple question:
What is the best way to notate lets say a string quartet with 4 movements?
I have finished the first movement.
I add more bars at the end.
I insert a line or page brake.
I then Insert a new tempo and a new key signature (I have made sure, that in Settings the reminders are both hidden).
It seems the new tempo goes automatically into all systems, the new key signature has to be put into all systems individually.
Then I change the bar number by editing the bar properties by substracting the adequate number (let’s say first movement had 198 bars, so I add to bar number "-197")
This would be my procedure so far.
Is there a more elegant solution?
Thank you for your input.

Not in the current version. 2.0 will have a system break which wopuld do some of that for you
Additinally you could insert a vertical frame before the 1st bar of the subsequent moves, and have text in them, like Titel, subtitel etc. Or you can just use it as a spacer, i.e. leave it empty and just resizes to your needs

also for the hint with the spacer (vertical frame).
This is as elegant as you can get it! ;-)
I can only add that, if you want (or need, for instance if there are key changes inside movements), you may leave courtesy keys on in the Style settings and edit each new key you insert by right-click and selecting "Hide courtesy key".
In addition, you almost surely will want to edit the new keys by selecting "Hide naturals" in the same right-click menu: naturals in a key change are fine within a piece but are usually not used at the beginning of a new movement.
These steps will require a few additional seconds of work, gut the clearer result is usually worth the effort.
And, yes, it is necessary to add a key change to each stave; this was by design to allow different keys on different staves (needed sometime); the next major version (2.0) will change this by setting the same key on all staves by default (with a specific shortcut to drag a key to only one stave if needed). This is probably easier, but will have to wait until next version...
