Tonic Sol Fa
Is there by any chance that I can add Tonic Sol-Fa notation above (or below) notes? Will come in handy for vocal music.

you could use "Lyrics".

I tried that. Its not just merely the use of the lettering (d r m f s l t d') but other text.
[ { ] beginning of each staff
[ | ] over a bar line,
[ : ] separating beats,
[ - ] sustained note to the next beat,
[ . ] separating eighth notes and
[ , ] separating sixteenth notes
It would help if one could insert text over a barline.
I have included an example done with another program.

It is a bit laborious but you can select a note, ctrl-T, add the solfa then Esc. Repeat till bored stupid. But it works

Adding text ( d, r, m, f, s, l, t, d) above each note is not the problem. Its the other thingies in between.
But don't worry about it, got Sibelius 7 finally and it works at the click of a button without getting bored stupid...

I haven't tried Sibelius due to price. I do have Finale but I find it overcomplicated. Is Sibelius easier? The other thing I would like in Musescore are chord Diagrams. Any ideas?

David

I will send you a private message from where I got it from.
One thing I didn't manage to find however is AudioScore and Sibelius 7 Sounds that is approx. 40 gigs.
MuseScore is a bit easier to work with that Sibelius but Sibelius has more functions.

Chord diagrams are coming in MuseScore 2.0.
Software piracy kills kittens. Use and support free software :)

If by chord diagrams, you mean guitar fretboard diagrams, that's coming in 2.0, along with tablature.
As for Sibelius, it is more similar to MuseScore than Finale is, so if you already know MuseScore, Sibelius will seem more familiar. But it would also help if you could describe in more deail exactly what you need in addition to simply adding the syllables as ordinary lyrics. i saw a psot earlier with refence to lines amd other symbols I had never heard of - is that what you're referring?
Maybe a plugin could be written to automatically add Lyric text showing the Solfa - is that what you mean?

Something like this for example? It s a modfied version of the notenames plugin

Tonic solfa uses a moveable do. Thus a plugin for Tonic Solfa should use the algoithm you can found in the shape notes plugin. See also http://musescore.org/en/node/16786#comment-59778
Please, how can use Sibelius 7 to write Sol fa notation with the music score.

Maybe a question for the Sibelius forum?
It's definitely beyond the scope of MuseScore technical support.
