Templates and/or Style Sheets
Win7 Pro MS 2.0.3 3c7a69d
I have just modified an existing Template and saved it in the same directory as my other templates (different name) BUT when I create a new score the new template doesn't show in "Custom Template" Section even though it is listed by Windows File explorer with all my other templates.
What am I missing?

What folder are you referring to, with what other templates? ~/Documents/MuseScore2/Templates is the place.

I keep my templates in a named directory (C:/Choir/Templates) which is referenced in list of folders named in the "Preferences" in MuseScore. It just contains the 4 templates I use most often.
I keep them there just so everything I do is in the same root directory (c:\choir) and back-up is simpler.
All the files (inc the new one) are .mscz files and all (except the new one) listed in the "Custom Templates" Section.
So what's different with the new one I ask myself and I don't know.

PS the folder you mention exists but is empty, which I would expect as I keep templates elsewhere.

Did you restart MuseScore?

I did and no effect.
I thought I would try a different technique and saved the file as a "Style", (again this uses a named directory (C:\choir\Local Style Sheets) referenced in the "Preferences"
This works!
Puzzle or what?

Puzzle! I'm afraid I'm baffled.

That makes two us but thanks for spending time on my query.

It sound like you save the style rather than saving your template into the choir directory. Open your template, apply the styles you want, then save the score in the choir directory and it should show up in your templates.

Thanks Mike320, that worked!
I thought that's exactly what I had done in the first place but obviously not even though the new file existed in the correct directory.
Thanks again, everyone's help greatly appreciated.

If it ends in MSCZ or MSCX, it's a score and can be used as a template - so hopefully it is in your Templates folder.
If it ends in MSS, it's a style file, not a score, and cannot be used as a template.
