3.5 Linux: Cannot drag items to custom palette
I tried creating a custom palette and drag some time signatures in it... at first I dragged a "default" one like 2/4... for some time i was struggling to put it inside by clicking on it and dragging it into the area of the custom palette. After some while I managed to do it... but I tried moving another time signature... this time a custom one. I tried a bit and after some time I stopped. Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry I also managed to do that: I had to click on the time signature first once, and then drag it. But it's kind of hard when i haven't put a lot of stuff already in the custom palette.

hold ctrl+shift while you drag an item to the palettes to put a copy there.

Wait what- shouldn't the elements be copied by default?

No, they're moved by default and you can't move something from the score to the palette, so you must copy it. ctrl+shift+drag will copy most elements to most places.

Oh... Wait I tried moving from palette to palette, not from score to palette.

Elements are moved from palette to palette (or within a single palette) with a simple drag. Elements can be copied from score to palette (or within the score) with Ctrl+Shift+drag.

So... They cannot be copied from palette to palette? Because moving them tells me that I won't find them in their "original" place while also having them in a custom palette.. but perhaps it's not that important... Or is it?

When you drag them from palette to palette, a copy is made. Try it.

Wait I'm confused so what is it after all? Moved or Copied? Because Marc says moved and you say copied... Or I don't get something.

It's a play on words.
1) To add an existing element from one palette to another, a simple drag is enough.
2) To add a new custom element, you have first to create/add it onto the score, then, drag and drop it in a palette of your choice, here with Ctrl/Shift/drag.

Wait it's possible to create new elements without going to the palettes? I usually go to time signatures and create custom ones from there
Btw cool animation... I should download something to create videos when I want to show something

He created the 4/2 time signature using the master palette and applied it directly to the score because he didn't want it in his time signature palette. For his example, he created a new palette and demonstrated moving items to the palette from the score as well as other palettes.

I misspoke slightly. If you drag within a single palette, it's just moved - this allows you to rearrange palette contents to order them how you like If you drag from one palette to another, they are indeed copied. Sorry for the confusion!

It's ok. Thanks for the help anyway.
