Is there any possibility to deactivate note input with the mouse? Thank you!

I've seen requests more than once or twice, but not that often. And I suspect most of the people requesting it are doing so because they are trying to scroll the score by dragging it, not realizing the mouse scroll wheel or equivalent touchpad gesture (e.g., two-finger swipe) does this much more effectively). Once you realize that, you only very rarely find yourself accidentally entering notes by mouse. But still, I'd be fine with seeing a preference to disable it.

Marc I am a professional composer. For sure I use the mouse scroll for scrolling the score pages. But as you´ve written it happens very often accidently to enter a note by the mouse. Dorico and Sibelius have the option to disable the mouse-note-input. For me its a very important feature for working fast. The other thing I mentioned in another thread : I can not understand why its important to press shift for selecting notes by dragging the mouse. In Dorico this is not necessary (if you disabled the hand (dragging) tool.

Accept that the current method of scrolling with a mouse requires two hands. It seems to me that the more movement involved, the more room for error. With my trackball mouse and scrollbars, I could move around by only moving my thumb and one finger. I know I'm probably the only person using one. But you know I'm going to push for scrollbars every chance I get :)

As I said, I agree such a preference could be useful, so I’m glad you suggested it.

If that ever happened, the. Indeed perhaps Shift wouldn’t be necessary when doing a drag select. But this too is something one should hardly ever need to do, as there are so many faster and more precise methods available.

I'm a keyboard user and will use the mouse only when really easier quicker.
And to to do a small (but not tiny) range selection the mouse is the quickest way.
Edit : at least it will be when mouse note input will be disabled and you will be able to stop paying attention to not modify your score in mouse handling
