MIDI input not working
I can't get the MIDI keyboard input to work. I have a Casio Celviano AP-45 (about 10 years old) connected to my computer (Windows 10) with a MIDI to USB cable. The computer's device manager recognizes the MIDI device. When I go to the preferences, I/O selection in musescore, it recognizes my MIDI device. I've started and restarted the software, uninstalled and reinstalled, all while leaving my MIDI cables connected and my keyboard turned on, but when I select the note input, with the MIDI input toggled to ON, and play a key on my keyboard, it will not recognize anything, so no notes are input. Is there anything else I can try?

Have you tried https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings ?
Then start MuseScore after the keyboard is switched on.
Or toggle the MIDI button in the toolbar (that 5-pin DIN connector), off and on again

Thanks for replying. After trying all of that, my son discovered that either the midi cable was incorrectly labeled from the manufacturer with the output and input switched or the piano is wired backwards. We put the output cable on the input and everything works fine now.

A common thing that is overlooked. The output cable from one device is the input cable on another device. You don't normally connect output to output and input to input.

Think of the cables as being like hoses, and the MIDI data like water. Yes, you need to output from one device and input to another, to make the water flow from one to the other. Connect two outputs wouldn't make sense, the hose would just blow up like a balloon.
