3.6.2 Mac -- Regression - Cmd-I no longer toggles italics

• Feb 17, 2021 - 01:10

OS: macOS 10.16, Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548020600, revision: 3224f34

In text boxes and frames, Cmd-I no longer toggles italics. Cmd-B (bold) continues to work, as does the I (Italics) button. PLEEEZ fix...

This is a mighty big deal for one who writes "books" in MuseScore. Please somebody verify.

I don't have a Mac to test on, but for the record, it works as always on Linux, and I'm not aware of any changes in the code that could possibly have broken this. Is it possible some newly-installed utility on your computer is "stealing" this keystroke? Also check Edit / Preferences / Shortcuts and see if that is still listed as the shortcut. Does it work to reset it to the default? Does it work to define a new shortcut for that command?

Cmd-I works properly (for different functions) in other apps, including Outlook under Safari, where it in fact does have a habit of bugs that occasionally lose the binding.

In MuseScore, cmd-I is listed for both Italics and Toggle Insert Mode. But outside of text boxes, it seems to bring up the Instruments dialog instead. BTW, I'm on Big Sur 11.2.1.

Oh, indeed, for lyrics specifically, Ctrl+I doesn't work on Linux either. And indeed, this isn't new at all - I can reproduce in all MuseScore 3 versions as well as MuseScore 2. Lyrics uses a whole different set of processing to handed hyphens and underscore etc, so not that surprising the Ctrl+I handling was never added there. Meanwhile, the toolbar works of course.

In this version I use, all shortcuts in a text frame work normally but not as shortcuts for Lyrics input.
Ctrl + b, Ctrl + i, Ctrl + u
