changing default settings

Is there any way to change default text settings? For example, I would like all the texts (e.g. staff, system, title, composer) to be Arial by default, and I don't know how to.

If you have an existing score that's already formatted the way you like, you can save it as a template. Then whenever you create a new score you can select your template under Custom Templates and your new score will be created according to your specifications.

Another approach is to create a MuseScore Style File (.mss) that contains the exact style customizations that you need. Once you have that file you can open any score and go to Format | Load Style… to apply it to the current score.

I've attached an example style file that sets all of the fonts to Arial (and does nothing more). You can use this file as-is, or you can open it in a text editor such as Notepad and search-and-replace all of the instances of “Arial” to whatever font you like.

Probably your score already had parts and you didn't set those up as you like. Better to delete the parts before saving as a template, then after creating a new score from the template, and after entering the music, then generate the parts. They will inherit the same style settings as the score.

If that doesn't help, please attach your template and give precise steps for reproducing the problem - then we can understand and assist better.

BTW, you don't need to "open" that MSS file, just save it into your Styles folded,r then load it within MuseScore via Style / Load Style.

But, look, I have hundreds of small scores and my eyesight is not what it used to be, so I would like the lyric font to be bold and larger in every score when I open it. I have created a style with the bold and larger lyric font. Is there a way to make this the default style so that I don't have to load it every time I open a score? Or, putting it differently, is there a way to modify the default style? I think this was actually what was requested in the initial post of this thread. And congratulations on creating a GREAT program!
