Incomplete tuplet
I'm transcribing a piece of unmetered music, and I came across a "triplet" containing only 2 notes, instead of the usual 3, as can be seen in the attached image. What this means (I suppose) is that these 2 notes are to be played at the same speed of the notes in the following triplets.
I can't find a way to properly transcribe this in MuseSore. Normally a triplet of 16th notes adds up to an 8th note, which means that this incomplete tuplets should add up to 2/3 of an 8th note, which is not something that really exists in standard music notation as far as I know. I just cannot think of any way to write this, while also having a correct playback.
Does anyone know if this can be achieved?

Looks like a misprint to me. Is that really a 3 or just a random splodge?

That looks like a 3 to me, it's basically identical to the 3 of the other triplets.

This looks like an extract from a vintage, hand engraved score. Errors in such scores do exist.
Is this a part with a separate score for accompaniment? If so, does the part agree with the accompaniment.
As it stands, that 3 makes no musical sense.

Unfortunately this is a piece for an un-accompanied instrument, so there is no other part to look at.
I agree that this is extremely unusual, and personally I had never seen something like this before, but given the circumstance the incomplete tuplet interpretation might make sense. But I guess it's possible that I'm reading too much into it.

Also, I don't think this is a mistake, as the exact same notation appears later in the piece.
Write as a normal triplet, the 1st note being a rest and invisible

I thought about doing that, but then I'll have an extra rest during playback. If possible, I was hoping to avoid that.

Mistakes can get propagated even in hand engraved scores.
I would write it as two non-triplet sixteenth notes and add a "3" as staff text.

add the G as the first note in the triplet and make a tie from the half-note-G. That would give the correct playback. Then make the tie and the first G in the triplet invisible (select and press V).

Exactly. And depending what your goal is, you might even keep the tied note visible for better readability.

This is a good idea, thanks.
