Small bug: incorrect note mouse typing

• Apr 9, 2024 - 10:37

Quite often, when I type notes with a mouse click, the note is placed on a line lower than its image indicated. Usually when you accidentally move the pointer a pixel or two lower (the note itself remains in place) and click the mouse button. The note is recorded on the sheet music not where it was just, but on the line below. Thank you.

As a friendly suggestion, if you can demonstrate this on a screen capture, bringing it over to github as an additional issue of the current 2.4K issues might help their developers to fix the problem more quickly than not :)

Which is why I use a trackball mouse for note input. Safer and faster. My old brain doesn't do well with all the short cuts needed for keyboard input.

To the original poster: Why not use keyboard entry rather than mouse? IMO, it's a lot faster, and less prone to the errors you mention.

I apologize for the other posters. We each use the input method that works for us. There is so much more to using notation software than speed. I use MU4 for composition. The placement of every note is vital and not to be rushed. And I'm not interested in trying to remember all the shortcuts.
There may be a bug. If there is, it has only happened to me a few times in my years in the program. That's why I said I use trackball mouse. The mouse itself never moves. So there is little chance of accidental pointer movement. I'm not saying that is what is happening to you. But it is a possibility.

You're absolutely right, friend. But here the software itself puts the note lower than it indicates. I suspect that the note has already been snapped to new position, but its image has not been updated. This is a tiny but annoying bug that causes inconvenience and slows down work.

Good afternoon, everyone. I noticed that this bug appears if the menu value is not set to 100% in the Windows settings in the "Scale and Layout" section of the "Change the size of text, apps, and other items" menu. At 100%, the bug does not appear. If you set 125 or 150%, this bug appears. I hope this information will be useful.
