Adding a pickup measure after the fact.
Using 3.6. In writing contrafact basslines for the theme to "So What," the famous Miles Davis tune, and then a set of walking-bass choruses, I now realize, having finished the 32-measure theme, the score needs a pickup measure; is there a way to insert one without starting over and redoing the whole thing correctly?,
Thank you!

Go to Add>Insert measures>Insert at start of score. Then right click on the measure you have just inserted and in Measure properties adjust its Actual length the the length of the pick up measure you want. e.g. if you want a three eight note pick up adjust the Actual length to 3/8.

OK, thank you - but will I be able to then adjust the measure numbers, as I don't want the pickup measure to count? This is the problem I've always had with an insert measure as a pickup, after the fact - the djinn in charge will always count the pickup as "1."

There's a tick box in that dialog to count or not count the measure
