MuseSounds

• Aug 30, 2025 - 12:36

So I opened up MuseScore and loaded one of my projects, I checked the mixer and noticed the sounds the instruments were using was MS Basic even though I have MuseSounds installed in Muse Hub, I don't know what's wrong.
Usually if the instruments were using MuseSounds usually it would be the instruments names instead of MS Basic but now it's just MS Basic, I don't know if SoundFonts is supposed to be MuseSounds but if I try to manually set all the instrument's sounds instead of using the Choose automatically, it still doesn't sound like MuseSounds.

To clarify: Soundfont means SF2/SF3 files as used in MuseScore 3 and does not mean MuseSounds. I don't use MuseSounds, (I use VST), but I'm sure someone in these forums will be able to help you.

You need to be able to see a tool bar across the top of your screen. File, Edit, View, Format, Tools, Plugins, Help. And a few others. If you go to Help/Diagnostics/Muse sampler to see what version of the Hub you have.
Re-install almost never works. Not everything is un-installed. So usually what is causing the problem are not deleted.
Choose automatically only refers to Basin sounds.

Open the HUB.
Go to Settings.
Scroll down to "Muse sounds instillation folder" to see where sounds are installed. You might go to that folder to see if the sounds are actually there.
Select "Muse sounds" in the left panel. Scroll down to free sounds and make sure they are checked as being installed.
Personally, I turn off everything in Settings in the HUB you don't need it running to use MuseScore. I open it now and then to check for updates.
