Chord Symbols

Is it possible to playback chord symbols, or are they simply for reference? Thanks, R

Thew way I would put it is, they are for printing on the sheet music along with everything else in your score. Keep in mind that the printed page (or digitallly viewed equivalent) is always the primary purpsoe of MuseScore. It is playback in general that could be considered "simply for reference".

I'm very new to this program but having some kind of chord symbol playback seems very necessary. Is there any way you can verify you have selected the correct chord symbol when writing music, other than waiting to play the finished music? For example, adding a guitar strumming using the chord symbol?

The only way to know if you choose the right chord for written music is to have knowledge of harmony and chords.*1
This creates a short circuit. The cause depends on the result. (?!)

PS: It's not so hard to write by hand. If you see the Note Staff and linked Tab Staff at the same time, you can also adjust the finger positions.

Thank you for the reply. I have no problem determining which chord to play. However it is easy to make a mistake when placing them in the music and the only way you can discover the mistake is by listening to the chords played with the music. It may also be that one chord sounds better than another but you have to wait to play it to find out. When transposing the key of the music, the chords should automatically change also.
I write music only for the concertina and the music is very unique. It just may well be beyond expectations of a normal music software program.

For the record, chord symbols do transpose along with the music.

As for hearing automatic playback being the only way to discover mistakes, you can of course still do it the old-fashioned way - play it yourself. Or, if you are copying existing music, just proofread. Someday automatic playback would be nice indeed, but do keep in mind the primary purpose of MuseScore is notation.
