There may, I suppose be case where the current behavior is desirable. But even so, the dot should be moved to the right to avoid collision. Similar story with accidentals.
Hello! I'm using MS 2.3.2. How do you actually add a parenthesis around a note or accidental? (apart from your point about it ignoring dots etc). I don't seem to find the way to do it.

See the noteheads and/or accidentals palettes.
