Proposal: Carrilon instrument?

• Sep 4, 2019 - 21:18

I just ran into this situation where I could not find any instrument suitable for my need.

I wanted to write a short piece for Carillon.
I found a soundfont for it, which is actually quite nice:

I would love to see the carillon as a proper instrument in a new musescore version. If possible, I would like to have the proper sounds for it too.

You can add an instrument like chimes and changes the sound patch to your carillon sound. Just change the names in staff/part properties.

I have no inherent objection to adding it, so I'll say to put in an official suggestion at https://musescore.org/en/node/add/project_issue?pid=1236 with a severity of S5 - Suggestion.

I would normally say to include information about the range, but this is quite difficult with the carillon since each instrument is so very different. Perhaps you could suggest a "standard" or perhaps common range that could be used as the amateur range and the maximum range you are aware of as the professional range.
