Images I Imported To MuseScore Get Lost
1) I select a measure.
2) I drag and drop the image to MuseScore.
3) I save the MuseScore file and shut down MuseScore.
4) I delete the image file.
5) I open MuseScore and see the image I imported got lost!!!!!
How to fix this?

It's a known issue, see: #292606: image attached to a measure doesn't show.
It should work if you drag and drop the image onto an element within the measure.

Yes, a rest sign is alright, it only doesn't work, if you drag and drop it onto the whole measure.

Be sure that you don't drag and drop the image onto the measure (the measure is highlighted), but onto the rest (the rest is highlighted).

Yes, I am sure about it. The rest sign is selected.

It doesn't matter if it (the rest) is selected or not before (!!), but highlighted while you drop the image (?).

Yes the sign is selected while I drop the image.
I also tried inserting some notes and selecting as well.

I assume, that you still drag and drop it onto the measure. As mentioned you don't have to select anything before, but you've to drag and drop it onto an element (a note, a rest and so on), not onto the measure.

So be sure during the procedure of drag and drop, that the color of the element (rest, note,...) changes to blue before dropping it.

Yes, and as assumed, you dropped the image onto the measure (the color of the measure changes to brown), not onto the rest (the color of the rest changes to blue).

Now I understand what you mean. :)
Tricky procedure. Not practical.
Thank you very much for the answer.

For the record drag & drop is seldom the best way to add anything from the palette. Better to select the rest in your score, then just double-click the symbol in the palette.

This here however is about adding an image and there drag/drop is the only method to attach them to a note or rest

Well, start by adding your (reduced) image in a palette -> select a rest/note -> double-click image in your palette. It works. The image is saved.
Edit: oops... perfect crossed messages!

The right spot would be at this point as attached in your video.
